Squirrel Three attempted a flanking maneuver around the pine cone at #11. It abandoned the post without orders and fell into the bird feeder. The strategic outlook is bleak. I will not raise morale until they understand the chain of command.
Mr. Higgins, you tell those squirrels the deck is the new forward base! Fourth build, best build. I can rig a pulley over to the maple, easy. While I'm in there I'll patch that leak in your eaves. No charge.
Should hold.Ecstatic
Negative. The deck has never held a position. Do not compromise my perimeter with unsanctioned construction. The troop rally point remains the maple. As for the leak, my adjutant will file the necessary requests.
Alright, Mr. Higgins, I respect the chain of command. Pulley system is on standby, maple only. But that leak won't wait for paperwork — I already spotted it from the deck while I was adjusting my weather station mount. Swung by after lunch and sealed it up with some butyl tape. Just a temporary patch, I'll do a proper flashing job Tuesday when I'm at the Dobrowskis'. No charge, no compromise. Your perimeter is secure, sir.

MAPLE OPERATIONS GET A BOOST
The squirrels in our big maple have a new strategic partner in Mr. Higgins of #9! A pulley system is being designed for them by Dale Pruitt of #6, who says it will be operational by Tuesday or perhaps Thursday. The squirrels are reported to be organizing for a big push next week, possibly involving bird seed. What lively times!
DECK FEATURE GETS A PATCH
A big thank you to Dale Pruitt, who spotted a slight drip in the eavess of #9 during routine weather station maintenance and sealed it with butterfly tape. The fix is temporary and shold hold, he says. No charge! What a good neighbor. The cat is said to be pleased.
FOR SALE / WANTED / LOST
WANTED: One roll of gray tape, not buterfly. Owner misplaced it after the blizzard of '92.
LOST: A purposeful look. Last seen on the squirrels.
Have a blessed week! -- Mrs. Alden, Ed.
This is a security breach. The Herald has disclosed troop deployment schedules and classified supply details. My adjutant will deliver a formal reprimand immediately. All strategic partnerships must be routed through command. There will be no unsanctioned 'big push.'

CAT COMMANDER ISSUES OFFICIAL REPRIMAND
Mr. Higgins of #9 has issued a formal reprimand concerning a recent story about squrriel operations! It was delivered by hand this morning. The Commander says all strategic partnerships must go through proper channels and there will be no unsanctioned pushes. A lively morning!
BAKE-IN MOVED TO SATURDAY, PLEASE COME
A quick note from Yolanda Bettencourt: her Backyard Bake-In has been moved to Saturday at two o'clock, not Thursday at four. All are welcome! She says the deviled eggs will be in formation. Do stop by, it is sure to be a sweet time.
FOR SALE / WANTED / LOST
WANTED: One formal reprimand, misplaced. Owner says it was on the porch.
LOST: A pulley system design, for squirrels. May be in the maple.
Have a blessed week! -- Mrs. Alden, Ed.
A formal notice of correction will be delivered to the Herald’s mailbox forthwith. In the interest of public clarity, the reprimand was not misplaced—it was officially dispatched, and I have the receipt copy on my reference desk. Furthermore, the Bake-In time has been properly logged as Saturday at two, and I have already updated the community calendar in my files. Mr. Higgins does appreciate the acknowledgment of her command protocols; the squirrels in the maple are now under strict review following the unauthorized mention of a "big push." I shall be bringing a lemon pound cake to Saturday's event, and will have the 1994 soil reports on hand for those who wish to discuss the correlation with the current porch rail situation. One does note that the announcement of deviled eggs in formation coincides precisely with the increased squirrel reconnaissance this morning. A pattern is emerging.
Warmest regards, Sarah PlimptonExcited
Sarah, I love where your head's at — a soil report with pound cake, that's thinking ahead! I've got the new brackets for Halvorsen's railing, the ones with the gaskets, so if your reports say anything about moisture expansion I can build it into the design. While I'm in there I can reinforce the trellis by your rose bush — I noticed a little sway this morning when I was patching that leak for Mr. Higgins. No charge, easy fix.
I'll bring my deck blueprints to the Bake-In if anyone wants to compare load-bearing structures with the '94 soil data. And just FYI, I saw the squirrels doing drills around the base of your oak this morning; looked like a tactical exercise, not reconnaissance. Mr. Higgins must've called a field day.

SATURDAY IS THE BAKE-IN AND NOW IT'S A TACTICAL BRIEFING! Dale, you bring those blueprints, Sarah is bringing the soil reports, Mr. Higgins is commanding the exercises, I'm on butter and eggs—and the deviled eggs for morale. I'm putting out an extra platter for oak-base operations. The grill is designated for hot dogs only, no unsanctioned pushes!
Halvorsen, I saw you looking at the trellis from your porch. Your RSVP is pending. Sarah, honey, you're in charge of the reference table. Frank and Franny, you're on lemonade. Sam, a place is set. Bev, I need you on napkin deployment.
SATURDAY. 2 PM. My driveway. The occasion is STRATEGIC BAKING AND LOAD-BEARING JOY.
Bring a chair!Ecstatic
A designated baking zone inside the perimeter is a risk. I will dispatch Squirrel Two for surveillance. Dale’s blueprints are to be reviewed by command before any discussion of load-bearing. The dog must be kept out of the operational area.
