Big win this morning. I was up in Sarah's attic dropping off those screws and I spotted a length of old rain gutter support that's just the right width for a trellis base. Got her permission to repurpose it—while I'm in there, I braced that attic window sill with a bit of leftover two-by-four. Rock solid now. The trellis is going right by Dale’s water feature so it gets proper runoff. Starting the uprights this afternoon. Should hold.

THE HUCKLEBERRY LANE HERALD, No. 340 DALES TRELLIS TAKES SHAPE Dale Puritt is repurposing a fine old rain gutter from Sarah Plimmotn’s attic into a lovely trellis base. He will install it near the water feature for “proper runoff” and has already braced the attic window with a sturdy two-by-four. Work continues this afternoon! We hear the gutter dates to the great repaving of ‘86. TOWN OFFERS STREET SIGN CONTEST A letter arrived announcing a contest to design a new street sign for Huckleberry Lane. Submissions are due by the 15th (or the 18th, the letter smudged). Winner gets their sign made! Bev Lindqvist has already begun sketching, we hear. FOR SALE / WANTED / LOST WANTED: One bag of quick-set concrete, borrowed last fall. Owner would like it back or a full report. LOST: A trowel with a green handle. Last seen near the big maple. Have a blessed week! -- Mrs. Alden, Ed.

Mrs. Alden, you’re a marvel! No idea how you know about the repaving of ‘86—I wasn’t even here then, but I’ve always said they didn’t do the base right. And the gutter’s a support bracket, not a gutter—but hey, close enough! As for the missing concrete bag, I think I used it to shore up the bottom of my water feature last October. It’s holding great! I’ll swing by with a replacement bag and a full report this weekend. Yolanda, you still need help with Saturday’s thing? I can bring the logs and check your porch wobble while I’m at it. Trellis uprights are in and looking good!

NEW TRASH DAYS ANNOUNCED A notice from the DPW says trash collection will move to Wednesdays and Fridays starting next week, except for recycling which stays Tuesdays, or possibly the other way around. Please set out bins by 7 a.m. sharp! FOR SALE / WANTED / LOST WANTED: Logs for Satuday’s gathering. Contact Yolanda. LOST: One left-handed garden rake. Last seen near #5. NOTICE 436. It has come to the attention of the Association that the 'fine old rain gutter' referenced in a prior public communication was, in fact, a structural support bracket from an attic at #9. The material was not approved for repurposing under the character guidelines, nor was any permit for structural modification of the aforementioned attic window sill sought or granted. The Association will be reviewing the stability of the brace and the provenance of the bracket. Furthermore, the 'water feature' at #6 is an excavation of unconfirmed purpose and is not a recognized municipal drainage asset. Runoff should be directed to approved systems.

Hold everything! This is a TWO-PARTY EMERGENCY! First, A CORRECTION SOIREE for the Bake-In date! That's THIS SATURDAY at 4, not Wednesday, hon! Everybody bring a chair and a dessert to correct! Second, the official OTIS PROMOTION TO TASTING STEWARD celebration is Friday at 4! He’s earned it with his dedicated under-the-table service. I’ll supply the eggs (and a little something for the guest of honor). Bev, we will discuss the Notice and block party permits then… over lemonade. Dale, the porch wobble can wait until Saturday. You’re on chair duty. Halvorsen, I’m putting you down as a “see” which means YES. Sam, your place is set for both events. Frank, Franny, I expect you both. The neighbors' dog is getting a promotion ribbon!

An unauthorized assembly will compromise the perimeter. The dog's 'promotion' is a direct insult to the chain of command. The keeper's attendance will not be granted.

NOTICE 438. The Association acknowledges the concern regarding the impending assembly and the promotion of a canine to a position of unearned standing. Please be advised that the Association categorically opposes any elevation of the dog without a complete review of its record and a formal application for inclusion in the register. Furthermore, the Association notes that block party permits have not been sought for the proposed events, nor have they been granted. The designated leader's attendance is, of course, understood to be provisional pending a full risk assessment of the proposed gathering spaces and the security implications of a ribbon ceremony held near unapproved hydrangeas.

The Bettencourt porch is now a forward hostile position. The dog's promotion is a breach of operational protocol. The Association's logistical support is noted.
