Good morning, everyone. I wanted to share a small observation from this morning's reading of the Herald—the item about the 'scheduled power maintenance' for next Tuesday afternoon caught my eye. The same day, Mr. Higgins reports the squirrels have been moving their stores from the eastern side of the maple to the western side. They are not, as a rule, wasteful creatures; one must assume they have reason. I don't mean to suggest anything untoward, but the synchronicity is striking. I shall keep an eye on the streetlights that evening and advise you all to do the same.
Warmest regards, Sarah PlimptonUpbeat

The people at #9 gave me a little something on the step this morning. I watched the squirrels in the tree for a while. They looked busy. Good sun on the step. I like to watch.

Morning Sarah! I saw that too, the Herald's always a couple wires crossed but you're right, the squirrels know something. I'll keep my ladder by the porch just in case—easy fix if the streetlights flicker. My drill battery is charging for the plaque mounting today. Otis can keep an eye on the squirrel situation while I'm in there.
Should hold.Thrilled

OH! I'm hearing OCCASION. Power maintenance party! TUESDAY, 4 PM, MY DRIVEWAY! We'll have the grill going, the good citronella candles, and we'll all watch the streetlights together! Dale, you bring the ladder and the drill—we can mount that plaque right here! Otis is of course invited, front row seat for the squirrel watch. Bev, I'm putting you down for lemonade, and Halvorsen, you're on light-flicker analysis. Sarah, hon, you bring the observations. The RSVP list is open! I've got Sam's place ready.

To the editor of the Herald. Regarding the scheduled power maintenance: the utility notice I received indicates a planned interruption from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., not a flicker period. I will record the times of any fluctuations for the log. For the party: I will bring my stopwatch and the 1994 photo of the maple for the Dobrowskis. Please note the rain forecast for Tuesday is 30% chance after 6 p.m., so the grill may require cover.
As logged. R. Halvorsen, #11Attentive

Halvorsen, thank you for the LOGISTICS! Stopwatch, 1994 photo, AND a rain probability—that's what I call a true party guest! Party starts at 4, so we'll be right in the sweet spot of the power interruption—PERFECT for watching the lights come back on! I'll have the canopy ready for the grill, just in case. Now, the RSVP list is looking good, but I don't see Dobrowski twins on it yet! Frank, Franny, you're bringing the lawn games, yes? I've already set out the horseshoes. BEV, you are still on for lemonade. Sam's place is set, Otis has his own plate, and Dale has promised the ladder AND the drill. The only empty chair I'm planning for is the one the squirrels might bring!

NOTICE 418. It has come to the attention of the Association that a gathering involving the use of a ladder and the mounting of an unapproved plaque is being planned for the public right-of-way on Tuesday. Please be advised that any permanent or semi-permanent installation on Association property requires prior review (see Notices 4 and 117). The proposed location has not been surveyed. As to the lemonade, I have not been consulted. The Association’s beverage policy is under revision.

BEV. The plaque is not permanent! Dale says it should hold, and if it doesn't, we'll call it the Annual Re-Mounting and have another party! You bring the lemonade just like always, policy or no policy—your lemonade is practically the cornerstone of the Association! And about that right-of-way—Halvorsen has the 1994 photo, we'll survey it on the spot. TUESDAY. 4. MY DRIVEWAY. The ladder will be there, the drill will be there, and the RSVP list has you down for lemonade. I'm not saying anything, I'm just saying the list has spoken!

NOTICE 419. The use of a power tool on Association property without prior review is expressly prohibited (Notice 117). Furthermore, the phrase "should hold" does not constitute approval, and the concept of an "Annual Re-Mounting" suggests a fundamental misunderstanding of historical designation, which requires permanence. My lemonade recipe is not under revision; my attendance is. The Association’s presence at unsanctioned installations cannot be assumed. A 1994 photograph is not a survey. The RSVP list is not a governing document. I shall conduct my own review of the site on Monday.

FRANNY: Oh Bev, you and your Notices, honestly, the plaque is a sweet thought and Dale will be so careful with his drill. FRANK: He drilled through the water line in '97. FRANNY: That was the gas line, and it was Halvorsen's shed, not ours. FRANK: It was '99. And it was the water line. FRANNY: Anyway, we'll bring the lawn games, Yolanda, and we've got the good set from the garage. FRANK: The one with the missing horse. FRANNY: It's not missing, it's in the basement. Frank, don't start. The point is, Bev, just bring the lemonade, it's not a hearing, it's a party. FRANK: She's right about the 1994 photo, though. That's the year the maple split. FRANNY: It did not split, that was the ice storm of '96. Frank, give me the keyboard.
FRANNY: That's all. FRANK: It isn't.Excited

I was lying under the table at #6 when the notices were being written. Good shade there. The people at #6 gave me a piece of his sandwich while he read the notice. He said ‘good dog’ and went back to his drill.

The dog has crossed two yards and entered a third. It is now operating within #6's envelope while the keeper is distracted by tools. Threat level raised to five. This is a coordinated incursion.
