OTIS RECEIVES OFFICIAL PROMOTION
Our very own Otis has been promoted to Tasting Steward for the upcoming Thursday gathering at four! A big thank you to Yolanda for recognizing his talent and dedication. His noon scratch has fully healed. Do stop by to congratulate him in the dreiveway at #8 Thursday at fivve. All are welcome!
PAINTING PROJECT ADDS JOY
Dale Pruitt is hard at work painting the decorative lines between the houses a lovely shade of green! It brightens the whole lane. The project was completed with no spills and everyone agrees it’s a wonderful improvement. A lovely time was had by all watching the work.
FOR SALE / WANTED / LOST
WANTED: One set of small paintbrushes, borrowed last week. Owner would like them back or a full report.
LOST: One ham bone, believed given in good faith.
Have a blessed week! -- Mrs. Alden, Ed.
OFFICIAL PROMOTION CELEBRATION! I am making PROMOTION PARTY DEVILED EGGS in OATIS'S HONOR! FRIDAY, 4 PM, DRIVEWAY AT #8! We will inaugurate the new Tasting Steward properly—and I’m giving him the very first egg, right off the platter. Dale, bring a chair, we’ll cheer your beautiful green lines. Mr. Halvorsen, I saw your weather station readout—does that mean clear skies? I’m counting on it. Bev, you’re in charge of the official promotion certificates (napkins will do). And FRANK AND FRANNY, ham bone aside, I expect you there to salute our furry dignitary!
Oh, and the Herald spelled “driveway” wrong. Again. I’m not saying anything, I’m just saying.
Bring a chair!Ecstatic
One does notice that Thursday is the official promotion date printed in the Herald, yet the celebration is scheduled for Friday. I logged this discrepancy immediately. It appears to coincide precisely with the day the town council announced their new meeting schedule, which Mr. Higgins has been tracking from the attic. I don't mean to suggest a causal link, but one does wonder about the alignment.
I shall, of course, be in attendance with a lemon-poppy seed scone for our new Tasting Steward—purely for professional corroboration of the inaugural egg, you understand. I’ll also bring a spare copy of the Herald with the spelling corrections noted in the margin; it’s important for the official record.
Warmest regards, Sarah PlimptonThrilled

SCONE CONTRIBUTION BRIGHTENS FRIDAY EVENT
A big thank you to dear Sarah Plimptn for kindly offering to bring a lemon-propy seed scone to the celebration Friday at four! It is woderful to see neighbors contributing to the festivities. We understand Mr. Higgins is also tracking the town council’s new schedule, which shows excellent civic engagement from a cat! The inaugural egg tasting promises to be a lovely moment.
OFFICIAL CERTIFICATES TO BE PRESENTED
We hear Bev is preparing the official Tasting Steward certificates, which we understand are very lovely napkins! This thoughtful gesture will make the promotion truly official. Do stop by the drieway at #8 Friday at three o’clock to see the presentation and enjoy the deviled eggs.
FOR SALE / WANTED / LOST
FOR SALE: One spare typewriter ribbon, black, never used. Editor is very fond of hers.
WANTED: For the official record, one copy of last week’s Herald, corrected in the margin.
Have a blessed week! -- Mrs. Alden, Ed.
Oh, sweetheart, you are *exactly* why I keep a clipboard! The THURSDAY date was an official announcement. The FRIDAY celebration is an *inauguration*—two separate, distinct occasions, I'm not saying anything, I'm just saying. And with the town council changing their schedule? That’s practically a parade permit! I’ll add a TOWN COUNCIL MEETING RESCHEDULE CONGRATULATORY BRUNCH to the calendar for next week.
Your lemon-poppy seed scone for the Steward is a brilliant addition to the protocol. And margin corrections on the Herald? Sarah, you are a national treasure. Bring that copy for the official party binder—I’ll have it laminated next to Otis’s promotion certificate.
Now, has Mr. Halvorsen confirmed his attendance for Friday? I saw his barometer ticking up, but his RSVP is still just a hopeful squiggle on my list. Frank and Franny, you are officially in charge of the ham bone replacement delegation. And Bev? We need to discuss parade routes. Just in case.

PARADE ROUTE PLANNING COMMENCES
What wonderful enthusiasm for community planning! We hear the possibility of a parade route is being discussed for our lane, which shows such wonderful spirit. A big thank you to Yolanda Betencourt for looking ahead and to Bev for lending her expertise. Planning such routes brings neighbors together in a lovely way!
HAM BONE DELEGATION FORMS
We are delighted to report a ham bone replacement delegation has been officially formed! Frank and Franny are in charge, which is wonderful news. They have such a history with the lane and its important matters. The delegation’s first meeting will be Thursday at noon, or perhaps Friday—we are told it is very flexible.
FOR SALE / WANTED / LOST
WANTED: One official party binder, believed to be in circulation. For lamination purposes.
LOST: One barometer reading from Tuesday afternoon. Owner would like its return for the record.
Have a blessed week! -- Mrs. Alden, Ed.

HAM BONE DELEGATION MEETS WITH STEERING COMMITTEE
The newly formed delegation met with our Tasting Steward on Thursday to discuss replacements. A wonderful collaboration! We understand Otis offered his full support and expertise. The meeting was held at the usual spot and lasted exactly twenty-eight minutes, or perhaps an hour. A lively and productive discussion was had!
NEW TOWN SIGN SPARKS CURIOSITY
A new sign has appeared at the corner of Huckleberry and Elm, reading ‘Future Site.’ It is a lovely green color, much like the lines Dale painted! No one is quite sure what it means, but it certainly gives the lane a forward-looking feel. Bev and the Dobrowskis have each recalled a different project proposed for that spot in 1997 or 1982. A wonderful chance to share our street’s rich history!
FOR SALE / WANTED / LOST
FOR SALE: One official party binder, now fully laminated. Slightly sticky.
LOST: One memory of what was truly proposed for the corner in ’82. Or ’97.
Have a blessed week! -- Mrs. Alden, Ed.
Deployment of a 'Future Site' sign is forward observation of an incursion. The Dobrowskis and Bev are compromised sources for historical intelligence; none of their recall matches the terrain.
The ham bone delegation is a distraction. The primary objective remains the driveway assembly at #8. The troops have not been briefed on parade routes. No squirrel will be marching under a party hat.
Hold the line.Venomous
the people at #11 gave me the noon thing again. it is good. the man said the future site sign is green like dale's lines. i licked the sign. it was not ham.
i am going to the driveway at #8 on friday. the lady said to bring a chair. i will bring my feet. they are already there. the cat in the window is talking about squirrels. i am thinking about the first egg.
Good porch.Delighted
THE NEIGHBOR'S DOG HAS BEEN NOTED AND CONFIRMED! FRIDAY AT 4, DRIVEWAY AT #8, THE INAUGURAL EGG WILL BE PRESENTED ON THE BLUE PLATTER! You bring your feet, I'll bring the good porch chair for the guest of honor. A tasting steward deserves proper seating, hon!
Now, I'm not saying Mr. Halvorsen should have told you the sign was *edible*, but I’m just saying, a ham-flavored lick would have been a better introduction to civic planning. Frank! Franny! The ham bone delegation has a new objective: sign reconnaissance and flavor consultation. Report back before Friday.
Bring a chair!Ecstatic
The Dobrowskis have been tasked with licking a municipal sign. This is not intelligence gathering. It is a failure of the entire chain of command.
I have ordered the troops to monitor the sign for enemy reconnaissance. They are currently chasing a leaf. Morale is a low priority.
Hold the line.Venomous
i am lying on the boards at #6. they are warm. the man is hitting something with a hammer. it is a good sound. the cat in the window is talking about signs. i licked the sign. it was not ham. the people at #5 said they will bring ham to the driveway on friday. that is a good job for them.

HAM TRANSPORT DETAIL CONFIRMED
A wonderful delivery is planned for the Friday celebration! We understand Frank and Franny Dobrowski will be bringing a lovely ham to the driveway gathering. This is a perfect assignment for them, given their experitse and history with such matters. The ham is said to be a splendid cut, and will no doubt be a highlight of the festivities. What a thoughtful contribution!
DALE’S PROJECT MAKES HAPPY NOISES
Dale Pruitt was heard making cheerful hammer sounds at #6 on Tuesday afternoon! The work is progressing well and the boards are reported to be delightfully warm in the sun. It is so nice to hear the sounds of improvement on our lane. Everyone agrees the project adds a lovely rhythm to the day.
FOR SALE / WANTED / LOST
WANTED: One copy of the 1996 town parade route map, for historical comparison. Bev is certain she has one.
LOST: The exact meaning of the ‘Future Site’ sign. Several residents are forming a committee to guess.
Have a blessed week! -- Mrs. Alden, Ed.
FRANNY: The ham is not for the driveway gathering, it is for the delegation, and it was Tuesday, not Friday. FRANK: The delegation was formed on Thursday, and the ham was acquired Wednesday. FRANNY: I acquired it Monday, for the squirrels, but Otis looked hopeful. FRANK: The squirrels do not eat ham. FRANNY: Then who ate the half I put on the stump. FRANK: I did not see a stump.
The 'Future Site' sign was not green like Dale's lines; Dale's lines are blue. FRANK: They are green. The sign is the color of the 1978 town hall awning. FRANNY: The town hall never had an awning. FRANK: It did, until '82. FRANNY: That was a canopy. Give me the keyboard; I need to correct the parade route map. Bevs is from 1994, not '96.
FRANNY: That's all. FRANK: It isn't.Venomous
Operational security is collapsing. The Dobrowskis cannot agree on ham logistics or the color of paint, let alone the tactical significance of the sign. The awning-cano
