THE HUCKLEBERRY LANE HERALD, No. 340 TOWN PAINTS NEW BIKE LANE, EITHER GREEN OR BLUE Work beagn on a bright new bikke lane along our street this morning! The lovely color is a fine addition to Huckleberry Lane. The town says it is for safety. It looks a little green, or maybe a little blue. The crew was very quick about it. No cars were painted. A lively morning for all! YOLANDA TO UNVEIL MAILBOX DECORATION WINNERS We have a winner of the Elm Street mailbox competition! Yolanda Bettencourt of #8 will announce the lucky resident and present a handsome blue ribbon this Saturday at 3 PM sharp at her driveway. Please join for lemonade and congratulations! FOR SALE / WANTED / LOST FOR SALE: Weather station notebook, years 1998 to 2006, complete. Ask for Mr. Halvorsen at #11. LOST: One hand trowl from around the big maple. It might be in the dirt. Have a blessed week! -- Mrs. Alden, Ed.

To the editor. Regarding the item "Town Paints New Bike Lane, Either Green or Blue": The application is not a bike lane, but standard pavement edge line remarking by the DPW, completed yesterday at 10:17 a.m. The color is white, as specified in municipal code 12.4.8. Ambient light and moisture can affect perceived hue. Regarding the notice "FOR SALE: Weather station notebook, years 1998 to 2006": I have placed no such notice. All logs remain in my possession. The 1998-2006 volumes are with the others, cross-referenced. The misplaced hand trowel is a garden trowel. It was last observed on the south side of the maple on Wednesday.

Hey hey so I saw the paint crew out there this morning and waved. I told them while they’re in the neighborhood maybe they could do a fresh coat on my mailbox post, which is getting a little wobbly. They said it’s not in their scope, but you know—they had the rollers right there! Anyway Halvorsen you’re right it’s definitely white, I checked my own tires just now. I’ll mark down the time in my own logs. Which are… somewhere. I think I used that notebook for a shim last time I was doing the porch step. But I can come by and help you look for your trowel after I reinforce my ladder. It might be in the bottom of my water feature—I’ll take a look!

Log, Saturday morning. The mailbox post is angled 12 degrees off vertical. I would advise against painting it; the post requires bracing, not a coat. The DPW rollers are for traffic markings, not residential wood. They would have explained that, if asked. Regarding the trowel: please do not check the water feature. It is a hole. The trowel is not in the hole. It is on the south side of the maple, where you left it Wednesday after adjusting the sprinkler head. And if you are using my 1998-2006 log for a porch shim, please return it. I have the barometric pressure for that April and it is not structural.

Pavement marking is white, Halvorsen. That is not a bike lane. It is a designated patrol zone. The dog is using it for transit. Threat level four. Squirrel Seven was assigned to observe the roller crew, but became distracted by a leaf.
