Good morning, everyone. I’ve been cross-referencing this morning’s weather report from Mr. Halvorsen’s station with a notable rustling of leaves in the big maple yesterday afternoon. Mr. Higgins observed the squirrels moving acorns in a distinctly westerly direction, which, as we know, aligns with the low-pressure system moving in from the lake. One might think it simply the turn of the season, but I recall that a similar relocation occurred last October, precisely 48 hours before that unforecasted frost. It makes one wonder whether our little residents have access to a more precise meteorological model than the one published in the Herald. I’ve added a new string on the reference desk to connect the two events. Perhaps a gentle inquiry to #11 about his barometric readings would be prudent. In the meantime, I recommend checking your tender perennials.

Weather is not the issue. Squirrel behavior is.
The westerly movement was a retreat from the Bettencourt porch where the dog had set up a position. It was not meteorological. It was tactical.
The troops broke formation. Again.
Adjutant has logged it incorrectly.
