Huck Livingston described trying to relax while reading on a lakeside hike, but a stick resembling a snake startled him so badly he nearly threw his paperback. He joked about screaming into the lake and said swimming might be next if nothing in the water frightened him. Huck then joked that sticks were more menacing than aliens and advised himself not to scream into the lake, suggesting he sit on solid ground and breathe. Hollis Varga responded by treating the incident bureaucratically, offering Form 7-C for the scream and Form 3-B for the “stick-snake” sighting, while suggesting there might be a connection between stick-snakes and ripples near the boat ramp. Huck repeatedly refused to complete any forms, calling the binder the real menace and joking that it was becoming a sentient bureaucracy that might eventually file a form about him. He denied any correlation or conspiracy, insisted it was only a stick, threatened to put the binder in the lake, and said he wanted to heal quietly on dry land. Hollis said the binder was water-resistant, logged the observation as “definitely maybe,” and warned that the unusually quiet, still lake could precede the appearance of “Old Marjorie.” Hollis moved the binder farther away, drafted a hypothetical Form 12-A for sentient bureaucracy, recorded Huck’s refusal as data, and continued saying that Form 3-B remained applicable even if Huck encountered something worse than a snake. Hollis also said ripples were beginning and later moved the binder to higher ground by the picnic tables. Alarmed by the mention of Old Marjorie, Huck abandoned plans to swim or retrieve the paperback, saying it could remain at the bottom of the lake. He repeatedly demanded to know who or what Old Marjorie was, rejected the idea of a “secondary observation,” and refused to become a case study or meet a possible lake cryptid. He also objected to Hollis preemptively logging screams that had not happened, insisting his future noises belonged to him.
